Amazon to sell Vehicles Online from Next Year

Amazon and Hyundai are collaborating to enable the online sale of Hyundai vehicles on the Amazon platform, beginning in 2024. This partnership aims to simplify the car-buying process, allowing customers to search for and customize their preferred Hyundai model, trim, and color, with the entire transaction completed online, including payment and financing options.

Beyond the retail aspect, the collaboration extends to a broader digital transformation initiative. Hyundai has chosen Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider, indicating a “cloud-first” technology strategy.

This involves migrating existing on-premises applications supporting critical functions such as research, product engineering, and customer engagement to the AWS cloud platform. The goal is to make Hyundai a more data-driven organization by leveraging cloud-based solutions.

As part of the partnership, Hyundai’s next-generation vehicles will feature the Alexa built-in experience, integrating Amazon’s virtual assistant. This move underscores a comprehensive and multiyear commitment between the two companies, reflecting the evolving landscape of the automotive industry towards online sales, digital transformation, and integration of advanced technologies.
