Another Punjab District ‘Chakwal’ Gets Electric Buses

The Punjab Transport Company (PTC) has deployed a fleet of 15 new electric buses in Chakwal district, marking a key milestone in Punjab’s effort to modernize public transit.

The service began on December 3, 2025, under the province’s clean-transport initiative, which aims to offer eco-friendly, comfortable, and accessible mobility.

These buses will run on three main routes: from the District Complex to Dhudial; from Tehsil Chowk to Balkasar; and from Tehsil Chowk to Mohal Mughlan.

What riders now enjoy is a modern, quieter, and more convenient travel experience. The electric buses come with air-conditioned cabins, digital route displays, and accessibility features, including low-floor entry and facilities for people with mobility challenges.

This initiative supports Punjab’s broader vision of zero-emission public transport. Electric buses help cut air pollution and noise levels compared with older diesel vehicles, improving commuter health and overall environmental quality.

For residents of Chakwal, including daily commuters, students, and workers, the new service opens up a reliable and affordable travel option.

It also promises smoother connectivity across key towns and rural areas in the district, which could support local commerce, education access, and social mobility.

As the government expands the electric-bus network, Chakwal’s rollout stands as a promising example of how sustainable transport solutions can bring tangible improvements in quality of life while helping cities and districts across Punjab move toward cleaner futures.
