Rawalpindi’s major road and infrastructure upgrade is moving ahead at a fast pace, with several new flyovers and underpasses already changing the city’s traffic flow.
As part of this Rs. 35.28 billion development plan, authorities have now approved another important project, a Rs. 3.45 billion flyover at Ammar Shaheed Chowk.
This new flyover aims to reduce growing traffic congestion in one of Rawalpindi’s busiest areas. According to officials, construction is expected to begin next year once the final approvals are completed. The project is part of a larger effort to modernize the city’s road network and make daily travel smoother for residents.
So far, one flyover and two underpasses are already open for public use. These include the Nawaz Sharif Flyover and the underpasses at GPO Chowk and TMA Chowk, which have already helped improve traffic flow. Work is also progressing on several other key locations, such as Kachehry Chowk and Jinnah Park.
In addition, new underpasses are planned to start on December 20, further expanding the city’s upgraded routes. Projects like the Iftikhar Janjua Road underpass and roadway expansion are expected to be completed by early 2026, keeping the overall development on schedule.
Officials say that once all projects are finished, Rawalpindi will see a major improvement in mobility. The upgraded road system will reduce traffic jams, shorten travel times, and make it easier for people to move across different parts of the city.
The new flyover at Ammar Shaheed Chowk is another important step toward a more connected, efficient, and modern Rawalpindi.
