Ansoo Lake, Pakistan’s Tear-Shaped Jewel, One of the Highest Himalayan Lakes at 4,245m Above Sea Level

Ansu Lake, also known as the Lake of Tears, is a captivating teardrop-shaped lake located in the picturesque Kagan Valley, situated within the Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.

This stunning lake sits at an impressive altitude of 4,245 meters (13,927 feet) and is celebrated as one of the highest lakes nestled in the majestic Himalayas.

Its proximity to Malika Parbat, the highest peak in the Kagan Valley, adds to its enchanting appeal. The name “Ansu” is derived from the Urdu word for “tears,” which aptly describes the lake’s unique and teardrop-like shape. According to legend, a Pakistan Air Force pilot first discovered this breathtaking lake in 1993 while flying at a relatively low altitude over the region.
