Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that promoting General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal was a decision he personally made, in recognition of General Munir’s exceptional leadership and dedicated service to the country. To celebrate this prestigious honor, a special Guard of Honour ceremony was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
During his speech, the Prime Minister spoke about the importance of peace and stability in the region. He said that true and lasting security cannot be achieved through conflict or war, but only through meaningful dialogue and mutual understanding. He highlighted that Pakistan is committed to solving major regional issues—such as the Kashmir dispute, water sharing, trade challenges, and overall security—through peaceful discussions and diplomatic efforts.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also shared his belief that holding talks in a neutral country could be a helpful step in creating a calm environment for both sides to come together. He expressed hope that such efforts would lead to better relations, long-term peace, and progress for the people of the region. The Prime Minister’s message focused on unity, understanding, and the importance of working together for a better future.
