An Argentine family is about to complete the journey of a lifetime: they travelled across five continents in a 1928 jalopy since 2000, while bringing into the world and raising four children who are now teenagers.
The Zapp family, Herman and Candelaria, as well as their children, have travelled a total of 362,000 kilometers (225,000 miles) and have now arrived at this town on the Uruguayan border, where they began their journey on January 25, 2000 at the Obelisk, a monument in downtown Buenos Aires.
“I have very mixed feelings. We’re either putting an end to a dream or making it a reality “AFP quoted Herman as saying. What’s next? Thousands of changes, thousands of options,” said the 53-year-old, who is already planning a round of the globe.
Candelaria, who was 29 when the trip started and is now 51, said the people she met along the route were her biggest and finest discovery.
