As Fires Wreak Havoc in Karachi, K-Electric’s Staff Rescues At Least 25 People During Fire Incident at Index Palace

Demonstrating courage and commitment to public safety at a time when fire incidents have wreaked havoc across Pakistan’s largest city, a power utility has played a vital role in rescuing at least 25 individuals during a fire incident at Index Palace Building in the Tipu Sultan road vicinity in Karachi.

Immediately upon receiving information about the incident, K-Electric responded and in line with established safety protocols, the feeder supplying electricity to the area was promptly isolated to eliminate any potential electrical hazard and ensure the safety of residents as well as surrounding infrastructure.

While K-Electric’s primary responsibility in such situations is limited to securing and isolating electrical supply, the situation demanded swift humanitarian action.

During the critical initial phase — and in the absence of other emergency rescue departments — K-Electric team stepped forward.

Despite challenging and risky conditions, the team actively assisted in rescue efforts. Using the Mounted Truck Ladder (MTL), they successfully evacuated at least 25 individuals who were trapped inside the building as fire blocked the staircase area. K-Electric’s timely intervention ensured the safe evacuation of occupants until other emergency services reached the site.

The fire brigade arrived and took over firefighting operations. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and further updates will be shared following the completion of the investigation.
This incident highlights the approach of Pakistan’s responsible corporate entities like K-Electric whose teams go beyond their operational mandate to safeguard lives. Their efforts reflect the organization’s unwavering commitment to community safety and public service.
