After Pakistan’s loss to Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup, former cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja shared a private conversation with Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam.
In their off-air discussion, Ramiz questioned Babar about the choice to use spinners in the 42nd and 46th overs, suggesting that fast bowlers might have been a better option to take wickets.
Babar’s response, according to Ramiz, was that he chose spinners because of the spinning conditions of the ball. Ramiz added that Pakistan’s recent losses could only be resolved with strong leadership.
He expressed concern about Babar’s low morale and its potential impact on the team’s performance, emphasizing that strong leadership is crucial to lift the team’s spirits.
