Bangladesh secured their first win in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 by defeating Afghanistan by 89 runs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. While trying to reach a target of 335 runs, Afghanistan faced an early setback when Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed with just 1 run.
Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah then put up a partnership of 78 runs, stabilizing the Afghan batting. However, Rahmat Shah was later dismissed by Taskin Ahmed after scoring 33 runs.
Ibrahim continued to play well and reached his 50, but his innings was cut short by an exceptional catch by Mushfiqur Rahim behind the wickets. He departed after scoring 75 runs off 74 deliveries.
