Bangladesh Receives First-Ever Molasses Shipment from Pakistan

For the first time in history, Bangladesh has imported molasses from Pakistan, marking an important moment for trade between the two countries. A Panama-flagged ship, MT Dolphin-19, arrived at Mongla Port on February 6, 2025, carrying 5,500 metric tons of molasses from Karachi Port.

This event reflects the growing trade relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan, particularly in agricultural products. Molasses, a byproduct of sugar production, is used in food, animal feed, and industrial processes, making this import a significant step for both countries.

As trade between Bangladesh and Pakistan continues to expand, there is great potential for collaboration in other sectors, such as textiles, chemicals, and machinery. Strengthening economic ties could benefit businesses and consumers in both nations, creating new opportunities for growth.

This shipment represents a positive step towards enhancing economic cooperation and deepening the trade partnership between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
