Bank Alfalah and TCF Collaborate for Rehabilitation under the Flood Relief Programme

Bank Alfalah, a leading commercial bank in Pakistan, has extended support to The Citizens Foundation (TCF) as part of its Flood Relief Program with support of an additional PKR 177 million for rehabilitation of communities impacted by floods of 2022. This collaboration aims to rebuild and support flood-affected communities by establishing educational, health, and sustainable projects that would impact a progressive way forward for the communities.

Bank Alfalah has earmarked PKR 103 million in a new tranch to construct three schools( 2 in Balochistan and 1 in Sindh), funded at PKR 49 million each and designed to accommodate 180 students in every school.  An additional PKR 5 million granted would cover operational costs for one school. The Bank will also provide PKR 25 million support for installing two water filtration plants, two solar power systems, and 200 Aghai Centers (empowering women in local communities with financial and literary support) across different TCF schools, reinforcing the Bank’s focus on sustainable infrastructure and community empowerment.

This brings the total number of schools supported by Bank Alfalah under the flood relief program to 4. These schools, once fully operationally, are designed to collectively enrol 720 children from flood affected communities, significantly expanding access to education where it is needed most. This builds upon Bank Alfalah’s partnership with TCF from 2022, launched at the onset of floods that affected the communities sending children to TCF schools. The Bank made an initial commitment of PKR 35 million to support the relief efforts, which included distributing ration bags, books, fertilisers, and seeds to the communities surrounding the schools, directly aiding those in dire need.

Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, said, “Our partnership with The Citizens Foundation, one of our most trusted and impactful collaborators, reflects Bank Alfalah’s deep commitment to uplifting flood-affected communities. Over the years, we have joined hands with TCF to rebuild lives, rehabilitate schools, and expand access to quality education in regions that need it the most. Literacy is not just a basic right; it is the foundation of empowerment and progress. By supporting sustainable projects like school construction, water filtration systems, solar panel installations and literacy centers, we aim to create opportunities that transform lives and pave the way for a brighter, more resilient future.”

Mushtaq K. Chhapra, Co-Founder and Director of The Citizens Foundation, commented, “We are grateful to Bank Alfalah for their trust and support in this critical time of need. The devastating floods left countless families needing assistance, and through this collaboration, we are providing hope and opportunity. From building schools and clean water facilities to empowering women through literacy programs, these initiatives will have a far-reaching impact on the lives of individuals in flood-affected areas.”

Bank Alfalah’s partnership with TCF is rooted in the shared belief that literacy is the gateway to opportunity and growth. By focusing on education and sustainable development in flood-affected areas, we are investing in the potential of individuals to transform their own lives and their communities. Together, we are building a future where knowledge drives resilience, and opportunities are within reach for everyone.
