Banks in Pakistan to Remain close for Three Days

The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that all banks in the country will be closed for three days on the occasion of Ashura. The closure will be from July 28th to July 29th, 2023 (Friday to Saturday). Ashura is observed on Muharram 9 and 10, which fall on July 28th and 29th, and it is a time to remember the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions during the battle of Karbala.

Ashura is a significant religious observance for Muslims, particularly for the Shia community. It falls on the 9th and 10th days of the Islamic lunar month of Muharram. The occasion holds great importance and is marked by various customs and rituals.

The federal government has also declared July 28th and 29th as public holidays to mark Ashura. During these days, people in Pakistan will commemorate and honor the significance of this event.
