The Punjab government has officially announced a 45-day ban on bathing and swimming in rainwater that collects on roads, streets, and in low-lying areas during the monsoon season. This decision has been made under Section 144 of the law and is aimed at protecting people from accidents and health risks.
The ban also applies to swimming or boating in rivers, canals, dams, ponds, lakes, and other water bodies, especially when done without permission or for purposes that are not approved by the authorities.
According to the Punjab Home Department, this precautionary step is necessary to avoid dangerous situations, including drowning incidents and the spread of waterborne diseases that often increase during heavy rainfall.
Officials have made it clear that anyone caught breaking this rule will face strict legal action. The government has urged the public to take this directive seriously and avoid any unsafe behavior near open water during the monsoon season. This temporary ban is focused on keeping everyone safe and healthy while the rainy weather continues.
