The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a substantial bonus of Rs. 415 Crore (approximately USD 15 million) for India’s T20 World Cup-winning team. This announcement came after India secured a thrilling seven-run victory against South Africa in the final held in Barbados.
Board secretary Jay Shah lauded the team for their outstanding talent and sportsmanship, emphasizing that their performance has made the nation proud.
In addition to the BCCI’s bonus, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had already declared a record cash prize of USD 2.45 million for the tournament winners. Moreover, the ICC awarded an extra USD 31,154 for each match won during the tournament, excluding the semi-finals and finals.
The total prize pool for the T20 World Cup was doubled this year to USD 11.25 million, ensuring that all 20 participating teams received a share of the increased winnings. This financial boost is expected to benefit players and support the development of cricket in their respective countries.
The BCCI’s generous bonus reflects the importance of the team’s success and highlights the board’s commitment to rewarding excellence and dedication in cricket.
