Due to overwhelming demand for tickets during the first seven phases of sales, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to release an extra 400,000 tickets for the ODI World Cup 2023.
The BCCI made this announcement in a press release on Wednesday, stating that these additional tickets will be available for purchase starting from 08:00 pm on September 8, 2023.
The reason for this decision was the huge demand for tickets when sales began on August 25, 2023. The official ticketing partner, BookMyShow, struggled to meet fan expectations, leading to widespread dissatisfaction on social media. Fans criticized not only the ticketing partner but also the event organizers and the BCCI.
In response, the BCCI, in consultation with state associations hosting the matches, decided to release about 400,000 more tickets for the tournament. This is aimed at accommodating as many cricket fans as possible, allowing them to be part of this historic event.
Although the BCCI didn’t specify how many of these tickets are for India’s matches, they mentioned that cricket enthusiasts worldwide can now secure their seats for the cricket extravaganza of the year.
