Football fans in Pakistan have something big to celebrate this year. Begin.watch, one of the latest OTT platforms in Pakistan, has signed a five-year broadcasting deal with LaLiga, the professional football league in Spain. The five-year deal starts from the 2025/2026 season, allowing BEGIN to stream all LaLiga Matches in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Known for their popular football clubs like FC Barcelona, Athletic Club, Atlético de Madrid, and Real Madrid CF, LaLiga is one of the most loved and most-watched football leagues around the world.
For many years, football has had a strong following in South Asia, particularly among the youth. Leagues like LaLiga have always been fan favourites for their inclusion of famous players, iconic clubs and emergence of new talent that races the spirit of sport. However, the fans in the region have always struggled with limited access and poor-quality streams. This new partnership changes how football is consumed, felt and celebrated in South Asia.
As BEGIN makes the massive move in solving the long-standing problem of digital piracy in the region, it has become the official home of LaLiga in South Asia. The streaming rights were previously held by GXR in the region, but Begin was able to secure the rights for the region for the next 5 years, signaling a massive shift in the streaming industry.
The President of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, showed confidence in BEGIN’s role, noting how valuable it is to work with partners who understand the local market and share the same passion for growing the game. The partnership is seen as an exciting step toward bringing Spanish football to fans in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka over the next five years.
Jonathan Mark, CEO of BEGIN, also highlighted how meaningful this collaboration is. He emphasised on the major moment of transforming the sports economy in Pakistan and creating a stage for a secure way to offer football coverage. He also centred his attention on building a future-ready system that engages fans, supports local talent and strengthens the football ecosystem in South Asia.
Key Dates to Remember
All LALIGA EA sports content will be streamed on BEGIN, along with the bonus content for subscribers. The 2025/26 LaLiga season will start on the weekend of August 15, 2025, and ends on May 24, 2026, with promotion playoffs extending beyond the regular fixtures.
One of the most exciting parts of the upcoming season is the return of ElClásico; the famous clash between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, with the first match in Madrid on October 26 and the second in Barcelona on May 10. Another big game, the Madrid Derby between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid, will happen first in September, and again in March at the Santiago Bernabéu.
To bring fans closer to major matches, BEGIN plans to officially screen some of these big matches across Pakistan, to build the spirit of football and let fans enjoy the game together.
