Big Relief for Households! PM Shehbaz Approves New Gas Connections

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the resumption of new gas connections for domestic consumers, calling it a major step toward ensuring affordable and reliable energy for households across Pakistan.

The announcement was made during a ceremony in Islamabad, where the Prime Minister said the decision was taken to address the long-standing demands of the public for access to basic utilities.

Speaking about the initiative, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik shared in a video message that the government remains fully committed to public welfare and energy reforms.

He highlighted that the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) recorded a profit of Rs29 billion in the last fiscal year, reflecting improved efficiency and management.

To ensure smooth and transparent implementation, the Petroleum Ministry has set up Project Management Offices (PMOs) within both SNGPL and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).

These offices will supervise all stages of the project, from processing applications to overseeing new connections and resolving public concerns.

Consumers who have already paid their demand notes can now complete the process by submitting the remaining differential amount and security fee. The government also plans to introduce an online application system, making the process faster, simpler, and more transparent for citizens nationwide.

Officials say this initiative will help improve access to clean energy, reduce dependency on alternate fuels, and strengthen Pakistan’s overall energy infrastructure.

The government aims to continue expanding domestic gas networks to serve more communities efficiently and sustainably.
