Bilal Bin Saqib Appointed Special Assistant to PM on Blockchain and Crypto

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Bilal Bin Saqib, the CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council, as the Special Assistant on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency. He will have the status of a Minister of State and will play a key role in shaping Pakistan’s digital future.

In his new role, Saqib will focus on developing clear and secure cryptocurrency regulations that follow international standards, especially those set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He will also lead efforts to promote Bitcoin mining and help integrate blockchain technology into various areas like governance, finance, and land records.

Another important part of his job will be overseeing the licensing of virtual asset service providers. He will also work to protect investors and encourage the growth of Web3 technologies, which include decentralized apps and digital assets.

Pakistan already has over 40 million crypto users and a large pool of skilled IT professionals. With this strong foundation, the country is aiming to become a leader in digital innovation across Asia and beyond.

Bilal Bin Saqib believes this appointment is a great opportunity to use new technologies for economic growth. By combining modern tech with smart regulations, he hopes to attract global investors and improve transparency in government systems.
