Over 8.4 billion Passwords have been Leaked by Hackers, attacking web servers of social app RockYou.
According to the sources, the world’s biggest online data breach in history has been reported recently.
Back in 2009; hackers attacked the servers of RockYou, leaking 3.2 million internet user’s passwords. But now what happened has seemed to be the biggest data breach in history, accessing over 8.4 billion passwords by the attackers.
According to a survey, the total number of internet users is nearly 4.7 billion, so it means this attack involves passwords two times the actual world’s population.
Changing passwords is quite irritating but because of the ongoing situation, it becomes necessary to change your passwords immediately, to protect yourself and your data from this scam.
To spread awareness and to give tips to the people to protect themselves, Kelley Keehn, a financial expert, joined a show to discuss this password data breach that happened.
According to keehn, one must include no personal information in their passwords.
“We’re sharing our information more than ever,” Keehn says. “Criminals are behind these attacks and they’re not going anywhere, soon.”
According to various researches, those leak passwords mostly include Non-ASCII characters, mostly between 6-20 with no white space. So if your passwords contain any of the things discussed above, change the passwords ASAP.
As per the official, never give a response to spam email, calls, or messages, and never click on the link received from unknown sources, this can cause you a major loss.
