Camel ‘Cammie’ from Sanghar Walks Again After a Year with Prosthetic Leg

Cammie, a camel from Sindh’s Sanghar district, has taken her first steps again—this time with the help of a specially made prosthetic leg. Last year, she faced a heartbreaking tragedy when a landlord cruelly cut off her leg as punishment for grazing in his field. The shocking video of this incident quickly spread across the country, leaving many people saddened and outraged.

After the attack, Cammie was brought to the CDRS Benji Project, an animal shelter in Karachi, where she began her long journey to recovery. A team of animal lovers, doctors, and caretakers looked after her with great care. They were supported by the Sindh government and kind-hearted individuals, including public figures like Shazia Marri and Quratulain Marri, who stood by Cammie through every step of her healing process. For one full year, she received medical treatment, physical therapy, and the love she needed to recover from both physical and emotional pain.

Now, after months of patience and hard work, Cammie has finally stood on her feet again—thanks to a custom-made artificial leg designed by Derrick Campana of Bionic Pets. The shelter team, filled with emotion, said it was a day to celebrate. Just a year ago, this innocent camel was left to die. Today, she stood up proudly, symbolizing strength, resilience, and the power of kindness. Her journey reminds us that even in the face of cruelty, healing and hope are always possible when people come together to help those who cannot speak for themselves.
