Canada has invited applications for its Graduate Research Scholarship 2026, offering a major opportunity for Pakistani students and other international researchers to pursue their doctoral studies in the country.
Generous Financial Support
The program will provide selected candidates with financial assistance of CAD 40,000 per year, for up to three years. This support is aimed at helping scholars focus on their research work without the burden of financial stress.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must already be enrolled in a recognized PhD program at a Canadian university. They should also have completed no more than 36 months of their doctoral studies by December 31, 2025. Students enrolled in joint programs such as MD/PhD or MA/PhD can also apply, as long as their studies involve a research thesis.
Application Process
Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the Canadian institution where they are studying. The final date to apply has been set for October 17, 2025.
Promoting Global Research Collaboration
The Canadian government highlighted that this initiative is meant to attract top researchers from around the world, encouraging innovation, creativity, and knowledge-sharing. By welcoming Pakistani students and others, Canada hopes to strengthen its role as a global hub for advanced research.
This announcement comes shortly after Bangladesh offered 500 scholarships to Pakistani students, marking a new phase of cooperation in education. Experts see such opportunities as important steps in building stronger ties through knowledge and research.
