Tennis player, Oreen Jasia believes women need to be highlighted as she won the final of the Qayyum Stadium Captain Shaheed Roohullah Khan Tennis Championship, which featured 28 Peshawar female players.
The youngster also claims that the tournament is a step in the right direction to empower women and is organizing an all-women tournament in Peshawar in her search for progress.
She won the event final against Anum Fayyaz 6-2, 6-2, while in the semi-final she beat Urooj Fatima 7-6, 6-1, while Fayyaz outplayed Hareem Fatima 6-2, 6-3 to reach the final.
Oreen, who also participated a month ago in the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Tournament in Islamabad, believes that it is necessary for tennis to have more women-only tournaments, because at one point, she used to be the only woman playing tennis in Peshawar. But she wanted to show other players that despite the odds, it is possible to bring improvement and pursue the excitement.
