The Environmental Protection and Climate Change Department has sent official notices to 465 car wash stations, instructing them to comply with new regulations. Similar orders have also been issued by the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC), the Rawalpindi Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and the District Council administration. These measures are part of efforts to ensure responsible water usage and environmental protection.
In addition to car wash stations, private owners of tube wells and bore wells have been informed about the new rules. They must comply with the directives by February 28. Authorities are emphasizing the importance of conserving water and preventing excessive wastage.
However, many car wash station owners are unhappy with this sudden requirement. They argue that installing water recycling systems is expensive and difficult to implement within the given deadline. Many business owners feel they need more time and financial support to make these changes. To ease the burden, they are asking the government to provide interest-free loans that would help them afford the necessary upgrades.
As the deadline approaches, business owners are hoping for more flexibility and support from the authorities to meet the new environmental standards without harming their livelihoods.
