Case Against Zainab Abbas ‘Baseless’: Pakistan’s Foreign Office

The Pakistan Foreign Office has strongly criticized Indian authorities for what it calls a “baseless” case against renowned presenter Zainab Abbas. Abbas had to leave India during the ICC World Cup 2023 after an Indian lawyer accused her of making “Anti-Hindu” comments on her social media accounts.

The Foreign Office expressed concern that Zainab was being dragged into a case without sufficient grounds. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that she left India due to “personal reasons” and dismissed deportation reports.

The Foreign Office also stated that it is in contact with Indian authorities to expedite the issuance of visas for Pakistani journalists and fans, addressing the delay in visa issuance for the World Cup.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had expressed dismay over this delay despite the World Cup being underway.
