CDA Targets 3 Month Completion for Rs.1.4 Billion T-Chowk Flyover in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially opened bids for the construction of the T-Chowk flyover, a major project valued at Rs. 1.4 billion. The flyover will be built at the busy intersection of GT Road and Islamabad Expressway, an area that often faces severe traffic congestion.

Among the companies competing for the project, Habib Construction Services (HCS), working in partnership with ZKB, submitted the lowest bid. Their offer was about 2 percent less than the estimated project cost, which makes them the most likely contractor to be awarded the work.

The proposed flyover will be 570 meters long and designed to give direct access from Lahore-bound traffic onto the Islamabad Expressway. In addition, the plan includes a slip road to manage vehicles traveling toward Lahore. CDA officials have said that if the work begins on time, the entire project could be completed within three to five months. Once finished, it is expected to ease traffic pressure and provide relief to nearly 100,000 motorists every day.

At the same time, CDA is preparing for another significant infrastructure project. Next week, the authority will open bids for the Rs. 1.3 billion Shaheen Chowk underpass. This project is aimed at reducing congestion at the busy junction of Ninth Avenue and Khayaban-i-Iqbal/Margalla Road. The underpass will allow traffic to move below the intersection while also connecting the top slab with the service road to improve overall traffic flow.

Together, these projects reflect CDA’s ongoing efforts to upgrade Islamabad’s infrastructure, reduce traffic bottlenecks, and make daily commuting more convenient for residents and travelers.
