According to official media, China plans to create a $3 billion supercomputing centre to analyse space data by the end of the year.
Starting in 2022, the supercomputing centre, which is expected to cost $3.1 billion, would deliver extensive data services to industries such as aircraft and marine, according to the state-backed Hainan Daily. And it will help in such computations, as well as analyse and give services to connected companies.
China envisions enormous constellations of commercial satellites in the next decade, capable of providing services ranging from high-speed internet for planes to tracking coal shipments.
China will need to create bigger rockets that can carry more satellites, or additional launch sites, or both, to meet the demand for satellite launches.
China now has four launch sites, three in the interior and one in the Hainan province of Wenchang.
