A top Chinese delegation has announced a $1 billion investment to build a modern medical city in Karachi. This major project is expected to create 50,000 new jobs and significantly boost Pakistan’s healthcare sector.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI)’s Pakistan-China Business Council. The medical city will include facilities for manufacturing medical equipment, a world-class medical college, training programs, and other healthcare-related businesses.
The project is supported by the Pakistan-China Medical Association and is expected to be completed within three years. It is being developed by 35 Chinese business groups listed on the Chinese Stock Exchange.
FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh called the initiative a “game-changer” for Pakistan’s healthcare industry, especially in Karachi. He highlighted its potential to raise medical standards, create thousands of job opportunities, and positively impact the local economy.
This medical city represents a significant collaboration between Pakistan and China, aiming to address critical gaps in the healthcare system while promoting economic growth. It also reflects growing economic ties and shared ambitions between the two countries.
Once completed, the medical city is expected to provide advanced healthcare services and training opportunities, making it a key milestone in Pakistan’s healthcare development.
