China urged to increase Investment and Trade in Pakistan after Special Partnership

The China ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) was recently held at Nanning China from 27 to 30 November 2020, inviting Pakistan as a special partner country. The expo is intended to facilitate trade and investment between the countries of the ASEAN region.

Pakistan’s ambassador to China, Moin-ul-Haque, urged the business community of China and the ASEAN countries to invest in Pakistan and in particular, in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) set up under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor while addressing the conference held at the expo (CPEC). He noted that there is a huge opportunity for the Pakistani market that can only be enhanced by a close friendship with China.

As shown by the hosting of CAEXPO and other trade exhibitions, President Dr. Arif Alvi also commended the Government of China for successfully resolving the Covid-19 pandemic and restoring trade and economic activity.

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has also told Pakistani exporters that it has included the China ASEAN expo in its exhibition calendar and is expected to participate with full vigour in the 2021 edition.

This is a positive move for Pakistan as the global community is slowly coming around with Turkey showing a keen interest in setting up industries in Pakistan and major tech giants like Samsung considering setting up a smartphone assembly plant in Pakistan.
