The Pakistan Studies textbook for 10th grade students in Punjab is being updated to include chapters on notable women leaders such as Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, her late mother Kulsoom Nawaz, Fatima Jinnah, Benazir Bhutto, and Bilquis Edhi. This revision aims to highlight the critical contributions women have made to Pakistan’s history and development.
According to Noor-ul-Huda, a spokesperson for the Education Ministry, the revised textbook will be introduced in the academic session starting March 2025. The goal of these changes is to inspire students, especially young girls, by showcasing the achievements of these influential women. It is also an effort to emphasize the important role women have played in the nation’s progress.
By including stories of strong and inspiring female leaders, the new textbook hopes to encourage a sense of pride and motivation among students while promoting gender equality in education.
