Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has suggested that her father, Nawaz Sharif, the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), consider buying Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and turning it into a new airline called “Air Punjab.” Maryam believes this move would give Pakistan a fresh, modern airline with a new identity.
Nawaz Sharif recently explained that Maryam came to him for advice on the idea. She proposed taking control of PIA and transforming it into a rebranded national airline with the name Air Punjab. The vision is to provide Pakistan with a modernized airline experience that stands out.
Nawaz Sharif shared that he encouraged Maryam to discuss this idea with other officials to explore it further. He sees Air Punjab as a rebranded airline that could enhance travel connections within Pakistan and internationally. The plan would involve linking major Pakistani cities—such as Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta—with global destinations, including New York, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
If the idea is approved, Air Punjab could present a new face of Pakistani air travel, offering an improved and contemporary experience for both domestic and international passengers.
