CM Punjab Announces 50% Reduction in Petrol Allowances for Govt Officers Vehicles

The Punjab government has announced a 50% reduction in petrol and diesel allowances for official vehicles to control fuel consumption during the ongoing fuel crisis. The decision was approved by Maryam Nawaz as part of efforts to manage limited petroleum resources and rising fuel costs.

Under the new rules, allowances for provincial ministers have been completely suspended. Protocol convoys have also been restricted, with only one escort vehicle allowed for officials who require essential security.

In addition, government offices have been directed to implement work-from-home arrangements, with only essential staff required to attend offices in person. Public services will continue through digital platforms, ensuring citizens still have access to key government functions.

Authorities have emphasized strict monitoring of fuel supply, transportation fares, and any hoarding of essential commodities. Officials warned that violations of the new regulations could lead to disciplinary action.

The move signals the provincial government’s commitment to resource management during a period of uncertainty in global oil supplies and rising domestic fuel prices.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to encourage energy efficiency, reduce public expenditure, and ensure essential services remain functional while managing the fuel crisis effectively.
