CM Punjab Bans Mobile Use for Doctors in Hospitals

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed doctors working in government hospitals across the province to avoid using mobile phones during duty hours. She warned that even minor negligence in patient care can lead to serious consequences and may cost lives. She stressed that patients in public hospitals depend entirely on doctors and medical staff for proper and timely treatment, and there should be no distractions while performing their duties.

While speaking to hospital officials in Lahore, she highlighted the need for greater responsibility, discipline, and accountability in the healthcare system. She ordered strict monitoring of doctors and staff, regular ward visits by senior medical officers, and immediate action against any form of corruption or negligence.

The chief minister also announced a Rs3 billion fund for the treatment of children suffering from heart diseases. She said the government is committed to improving healthcare services and ensuring better facilities for the public. In addition, she confirmed that large-scale recruitment of doctors and nurses will take place to strengthen the healthcare system and reduce the burden on existing staff.
