CM Punjab Inaugurates GPO Saddar Underpass & Nawaz Sharif Flyover on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated two major infrastructure projects in Rawalpindi, costing a total of Rs. 8.77 billion. These include the Nawaz Sharif Flyover on Adiala Road and the GPO Chowk Underpass on Mall Road.

Both projects are designed to improve traffic conditions in the city. Over 500,000 vehicles travel through these areas daily, and the new roads are expected to reduce congestion, save time, and cut down fuel consumption for commuters.

As part of the upgrades, intelligent traffic signals have been installed, and pedestrian access to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) has also been improved to ensure public convenience.

While speaking at the inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz praised the timely completion of the projects. She said that providing relief to the public through such development work is among her government’s top priorities. She added that efficient transportation not only helps ease daily life but also supports the overall progress of cities.

These new developments will improve connectivity between major city points and bring ease to residents of several surrounding areas. People who regularly face traffic jams on these busy roads will now experience smoother and quicker travel.

The projects also reflect the government’s broader commitment to modernizing infrastructure across Punjab. With more similar developments planned, the aim is to create safer, faster and more accessible roads for everyone.
