CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Announces Flood Relief Package

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has rolled out a major relief and recovery plan for families affected by recent floods, promising both financial support and long-term infrastructure improvements.

During her visit to Jalalpur Pirwala City, Maryam Nawaz said the provincial government would stand firmly with every household impacted by the disaster.

Families who lost loved ones will receive Rs. 1 million each, while homeowners whose houses were destroyed will also get the same amount. Those with partial damage to their property will be compensated with Rs. 500,000.

In addition, she announced support for livestock owners, pledging Rs. 500,000 for each large animal lost and Rs. 50,000 for smaller animals.

Maryam Nawaz stressed that relief efforts would not stop at compensation. She outlined key development projects aimed at reducing future risks, including the construction of a permanent embankment in Jalalpur Pirwala and improved evacuation systems for vulnerable areas. She also unveiled plans for the Gillani Expressway in Uch Sharif to improve regional connectivity.

“To us, flood victims are like guests we will not rush their return until it is completely safe,” she assured, adding that her administration is working around the clock to provide shelter, food, and safety to affected families.

In a further step, the Chief Minister announced the formation of a 14-member committee to design a comprehensive disaster response and rehabilitation strategy.

The committee will be led by Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and will focus on creating a structured plan for both immediate relief and long-term recovery.

Maryam Nawaz concluded by affirming that her government’s priority is to rebuild lives and restore hope for those devastated by the floods.
