Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially relaunched the laptop distribution scheme after a gap of eight years. In a special ceremony at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, she handed out the latest 13th-generation Core i7 laptops to top-performing students.
Along with the laptop distribution, she also launched Phase II of the Honahar Scholarship program. Through this initiative, thousands of students will receive financial aid of PKR 20,000 each to help support their education and personal needs.
Students from all parts of Pakistan are eligible to apply for these opportunities, including those from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan. In terms of distribution, students in KP will receive 3,136 laptops, Balochistan students will get 938 laptops, AJK students will be given 517 laptops, and GB students will receive 410 laptops.
In the Lahore Division alone, around 14,000 laptops will be distributed, and scholarships worth more than PKR 120 million will be awarded. This major investment highlights the government’s focus on empowering students and providing them with the tools they need to succeed in today’s digital world.
The ceremony itself was a lively and patriotic event. It included a guard of honour for the Chief Minister, performances of national songs, and the screening of a special documentary that highlighted the importance of education and youth empowerment.
During her speech, Maryam Nawaz praised the energy, talent, and potential of Pakistan’s youth. She encouraged students to stay positive and work hard for the country’s future, ending her address with the inspiring words: “Qadam Qadam Abaad Rahe,” meaning “May you prosper with every step.”
Through programs like the laptop scheme and the Honahar Scholarship, the Punjab government hopes to invest in the next generation, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to achieve their dreams and contribute to the nation’s progress.
