The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir paid a visit to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the PM House in Islamabad on Wednesday to offer his congratulations on Shehbaz’s re-election as the country’s leader for a second consecutive term.
During their meeting, the two leaders talked about important matters related to the army’s operations and security. Shehbaz won the recent election with 201 votes, getting support from a group of parties including the PPP, MQM-P, PML-Q, BAP, PML-Z, IPP, and NP.
In a recent meeting of the Corps Commanders’ Conference, the military rejected claims of meddling in the electoral process and stressed the importance of following legal procedures to address any concerns about the February 8 election results.
The army expressed satisfaction with the smooth transition of power through democratic means and expressed hope for stability in both politics and the economy following the elections.
