Not such good news for Doctors as they won’t be able to work in the United States(US) as Pakistan has failed to reach the criteria set by World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) for now, and very less time for them to meet that criteria.
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) scheduled a meeting with WFME and their visit was due but in 2019 PMDC was dissolved and Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) was established, in this way their visit was postponed.
Pakistan has time till January 2024 and the current Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) Act at present does not meet the criteria to get recognition from the world body.
In case of failure to take timely measures, Pakistan might miss the deadline, rendering graduates of Pakistani medical colleges unable to practice medicine in the US.
