Minister for Narcotics Control, Mr. Ijaz Shah has recently said on Monday that a drug rehabilitation centers is soon to be established in all divisions of Punjab as to treat the patients who are drug addicts.
The minister also told that the Senate during the proceedings took the decision for setting up the rehabilitation centers in almost every division of Punjab and this decision was made during the meeting with Mr. Usman Buzdar, The Chief Minister.
However, as per him the federal government alone is unable to deal with this problem as there are around five million plus drug addicts in Pakistan, so the federal as well as provincial government departments will have to make a joint effort in order to tackle with this huge problem.
He added that previously there were only around three drug rehabilitation centers in Pakistan and these were unable to meet the patient’s needs. He also said that the universities along with the colleges were also declared drug free, by efforts of an entire nation that were required to have a safe and a drug free society.
