Dubai-Based Volunteers Are Taking 50 Low-Income UAE Residents for Umrah

Thanks to a group of generous volunteers based in Dubai, 62-year-old Mohammed’s dream of going for Umrah is becoming a reality. Despite earning less than Dh2000 per month, he will be among the 50 low-income UAE residents going for Umrah in September.

The conditions for eligibility are straightforward: the individuals must be at least 40 years old, earn a salary below Dh2000, and possess proper documentation. The entire trip, including flight tickets and expenses, is sponsored by an anonymous benefactor.

Abdul Khader and Abdul Razak, the founders of the volunteer team, personally verify each application to ensure the deserving candidates are selected. The 10-day trip involves a 5-day stay in Makkah, a 3-day stay in Madina, and a sightseeing tour to significant Islamic locations.

This is not the first time the team has organized such a trip. Last year, they took another group of 50 people for Umrah, including individuals from various countries like India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

Khader and Razak, who met as volunteers of Kerala Muslim Cultural Center (KMCC), are actively involved in various charity initiatives, including food distribution to over 3000 people every weekend. Their main goal is to continue helping those in need and ensure that the donors’ money is used in the best possible way.
