Dubai’s Burj Khalifa Lights Up In Pakistani Colors

On Saturday, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai was draped in Pakistan’s national flag as a colossal tribute to a watershed moment in the country’s history.

In honor of Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day, the world’s tallest structure was lit up in green and white. The Pakistani flag was raised at the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate general in Dubai earlier in the day to commemorate the event.

The UAE is home to more than a million Pakistanis, making it the second-largest Pakistani resident population, behind Saudi Arabia. On Pakistan’s Independence Day, President Sheikh Khalifa sent President Arif Alvi a letter of congratulations.

On August 14, 1947, officials from both emirates gave addresses to commemorate Pakistan’s birth as an independent nation.
