Quetta and several areas of Balochistan felt tremors late last night after a 5.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded by the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The quake struck at 2:45 AM and was strong enough to wake people from their sleep, causing many to step outside their homes for safety.
Officials reported that the tremors were felt in districts including Ziarat, Harnai, Zardalu, Khost, Shahrag, Muslim Bagh, Khanozai, Kan Mehtarzai, Rud Malazai, and Sarkhab.
People in these areas described the shaking as brief and mild, and while it caused concern, it did not create major panic. Some parts of Quetta city also experienced light shocks, but they passed quickly.
Thankfully, local authorities have confirmed that there were no injuries, no loss of life, and no damage to buildings or infrastructure.
Rescue teams and district administrations monitored the situation soon after the quake and confirmed that all essential services, including electricity, roads, and communication systems, were working normally. Since Balochistan is known for frequent seismic activity, officials remain alert during such incidents.
Residents have been advised to stay cautious and follow safety guidelines, especially if aftershocks occur. People are encouraged to stay informed through official updates and avoid sharing unverified news that may cause unnecessary fear.
Experts also reminded communities about basic earthquake safety, such as staying away from weak structures, checking gas connections, and knowing safe places to take shelter indoors. Although this earthquake did not cause damage, it highlights the importance of staying prepared.
