The recent predictions made by the economist in an article titled as ‘Pakistan got its way in Afghanistan’ stated that, the current Prime Minister Imran Khan may win the next elections of 2023.
The economist further stated that, Imran Khan might become the first Prime Minister of Pakistan who will serve consecutively for two periods. However, the published article has also criticized the services of Prime Minister by mentioning about the dissatisfaction of Pakistani public for the current governance of Imran Khan.
PM Imran Khan has taken measures for the lower class of the society; however, a prominent part of middle-class is displeased with the services of current government due to the lack of opportunities in terms of jobs, career, development, living, food and other resources, as per the article.
Moreover, the article sited that, Prime Minister is ignoring various aspects of close ties of Pakistan with Taliban but it has also been highlighted that the results in Afghanistan seems to be good for Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Taliban taking over Afghanistan is a favorable development, as per the believe of several Pakistanis. Whereas, according to a recent survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 55% of the Pakistanis claimed to be happy with the decision of Taliban ruling the neighboring country, Afghanistan. Moreover, the article with this view stated that, victory-by-proxy of Pakistan in Afghanistan now makes Imran Khan look prescient.
A series of events including Afghanistan will make Khan win the next elections as the circumstances at that time will make him the only candidate that people will choose again. This seems that Khan will not win due to his leadership capabilities, according to the article.
The sacrifices of Pakistan due to the situation in Afghanistan have also been mentioned at many occasions in the article. Where the economist also stated that, we have a strong Prime Minister who is certainly a defender of Pakistan’s Afghan policy and due to this public is supporting him.
