Eid ul Fitr in Pakistan Expected on March 21, SUPARCO

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has predicted that Eid ul Fitr 2026 will most likely be celebrated on March 21. The forecast comes after Suparco assessed the chances of sighting the Shawwal crescent on March 19, which are expected to be low.

According to Suparco, the new moon of Shawwal 1447 AH is expected to be born on March 19 at 6:23 am. By the time of sunset on the same day, the moon will be approximately 12 hours and 41 minutes old, with a 28-minute interval before moonset along Pakistan’s coastal areas. This makes it difficult for the crescent to be seen, which is why March 21 is being considered the most likely date for Eid.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will have the final authority to confirm the date of Eid after observing the crescent. Their decision will take into account the scientific predictions as well as actual moon sightings across the country.

In addition, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that Ramazan 1447 AH will last for 30 days, supporting the conclusion that Eid is likely to fall on March 21.

As a result, families and communities across Pakistan can tentatively plan to celebrate Eid on March 21, while awaiting the official confirmation from the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

This prediction helps individuals, businesses, and religious institutions prepare for the upcoming festival in advance.

With Eid approaching, citizens are advised to keep an eye on official announcements to ensure they observe the festival on the correct day.
