Electricity Prices are High because Consumption is Low; if Electricity Usage Increases, the Rates will go Down, Energy Minister

The Energy Minister has said that one of the main reasons for the high electricity prices in the country is the low level of electricity consumption.

He explained that when fewer people or businesses use electricity, the fixed costs of producing and supplying power are shared among a smaller number of users. This leads to higher per-unit charges on electricity bills.

However, if more people start using electricity regularly and efficiently, these fixed costs could be spread across a larger number of units, making electricity cheaper for everyone.

The minister emphasized that the government wants to encourage increased and smarter use of electricity. They are not asking people to waste energy, but rather to use it more consistently and wisely, especially during off-peak hours when demand is lower.

He added that the government is also working on improving the power distribution system and reducing line losses to make the overall process more cost-effective.

According to the minister, stabilizing power rates is not just the government’s responsibility. Citizens and businesses also need to play their part by adopting energy-efficient habits and supporting national efforts to reduce the overall cost of electricity.

The government believes that with better planning, smarter usage, and improved infrastructure, electricity prices can become more stable and affordable in the future.
