Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has said that he will sell $6 billion in Tesla stock and donate the proceeds to the UN’s food agency if it can explain how the money will help to end world hunger.
In a CNN interview last week, U.N. World Food Programme Executive Director David Beasley challenged Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and other billionaires, asking on them to help end famine on a “one-time basis.”
Beasley claimed in the interview that millionaires might contribute “$6 billion to save 42 million people who are literally going to die if we don’t reach them.” “It’s not difficult,” he explained.
According to Forbes, the money would be around 2% of Musk’s fortune, or over $300 billion. Due to rising stock and home equity, his wealth, as well as the wealth of many other American multi-billionaires, has grown even faster during the COVID-19 epidemic than before the virus struck.
