The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom Pakistan and Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink intended to launch Starlink’s Satellite Broadband Internet across Pakistan. A delegation from Starlink, a US-based global satellite broadband provider, including Ryan Goodnight, Director Middle East & Asia, and Ben Macwilliam, Head of Global Site Acquisition, met with Minister of IT and Telecom Syed Aminul Haque to discuss policy and operations.
Apart from unserved and underserved areas, the minister of IT emphasised the chance for 40,000 schools, SME’s, and enterprises to expand up and broadband connectivity is an attractive business model, according to the ministry spokesperson.
Member Telecom was educated on the Balanced Space Satellite Regime, which will make LEO Satellite services more accessible. The Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications highlighted Pakistan’s high broadband density and the win-win situation that will result in the ministry’s aim of “Broadband for All” and the Prime Minister’s vision of “Digital Pakistan.”
