PTCL Setup Pakistan’s First Carrier-Neutral IXP and Data Center in Pakistan

Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, spoke at the Operational Launch ceremony of the Carrier Neutral Pakistan Internet Exchange & Data Center in Islamabad on January 29, 2024.

This momentous occasion signifies a significant development for the Pakistan telecom and IT industry, achieving three major milestones in collaboration with key entities like PTCL, SCO, PTA, De CIX, PEACE Cable, and China Mobile.

Firstly, a groundbreaking agreement has been reached for China to direct their Internet traffic through Pakistan. This positions Pakistan as a crucial regional hub for connectivity, expected to generate substantial revenue through Internet transit traffic.

Secondly, ptcl has successfully established Pakistan’s first carrier-neutral IXP and Data center. This initiative aims to enhance the reliability of internet connectivity throughout the country.
