The main committee that looks for the crescent moon signaling the start of Shawwal is meeting now. They are discussing when the moon might be seen. Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad is leading the meeting in Islamabad. People from the Meteorological Department and Sparkoscience Technology are there too.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Zubair Azad said both the big and small committees are meeting. They think the moon will be visible for about 54 minutes after the sun sets.
Yesterday, at 11:21 pm, the Shawwal moon was born. Today, it’s between 19 to 20 hours old. The sun will set at 6:52 pm. At that time, the moon will be about 19 hours and 54 minutes old, which is the right age for it to be seen.
Experts say the moon needs to be at least 19 hours old to be seen.
At the same time, there’s a meeting of the Zonal Rivit Hilal Committee in Peshawar to look for the Shawwal moon. But the weather forecast says it might be cloudy, making it hard to see the moon. If anyone sees the moon, they’ll tell the Central Committee.
