Former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed has been given a 14-year rigorous imprisonment sentence, according to a short statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military said the punishment was announced after a complete legal process was carried out under the Pakistan Army Act. Questions had been raised earlier about his professional conduct, which led to a formal inquiry and later a full trial.
According to the ISPR, the Field General Court Martial began its proceedings on August 12, 2024. The process continued for around 15 months, during which different parts of his service record and actions taken after retirement were reviewed.
The military court examined all available evidence, statements, and material related to the case before reaching its final decision.
Officials explained that the case involved several issues linked to his responsibilities while in service. They added that the investigation was conducted step by step, ensuring that all legal procedures were followed. The long timeline of the trial shows that the court looked closely at every detail before giving a verdict.
The ISPR also stated that this decision reflects the military’s commitment to accountability and discipline within its ranks. According to them, no individual, regardless of their past position or influence, is above the law or exempt from responsibility.
While the statement did not reveal specific charges or detailed evidence, it confirmed that the judgment was made after examining all important aspects of the case.
The military emphasized that the process remained transparent and in line with the rules that guide internal investigations.
The announcement marks a significant development, as Faiz Hameed previously held one of the most powerful intelligence positions in the country. The ruling closes a long-running inquiry and signals the military’s intention to enforce its code of conduct strictly.
