As per recent news, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) has had all of its bank accounts frozen by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) due to non-payment of Rs. 23 billion in sales tax.
The FBR’s Inland Revenue department has attached the gas utility’s accounts for Rs. 23 billion in sales tax arrears. So far, a total of Rs. 312 million in tax dues has been recovered, according to the report.
“The Appellate Commissioner (Appeals) has also confirmed the default amount of Sales Tax,” the FBR stated in a statement.
The statement further said, “Under Section 48 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, Zone Enforcement-II, LTO, Karachi has made recovery possible through bank account attachment.”
